Free Photo Friday A bit Of Odd Fellows

Here are a couple of bits from a transfer certificate for the Independent Order Of Odd Fellows 1915 for a Mrs. G.Beck. This is a wonderful quirky document with amazing graphics. I lucked out and was able to add a few of these to my collection. My scanner is acting up and my camera battery conked out before I got a full shot of the document so these tidbits will have to do for now. I promise to get the whole page up when I figure out whats up with my scanner.

I'm a sucker for old ads I often buy smelly, dirty old magazines just so I can flip though the ad section. I don't care what the magazine is about as long as it has a large ad section I'm hooked. I mean who wouldn't be captivated by the idea of owing your very own Bronchitis Kettle or Invalid furniture, Parr's Life Pills. Here is a collage sheet full of fun ads from Cassell's Illustrated Almanack 1882 , these images are a great way to start a collage with.

Have fun splurge treat yourself to that Turkish bath you have always dreamed about you know you want too........

Until next time take care and have a wonderful weekend Hugs Deborah

Free Photo Friday A Couple Of Chicks

Happy Friday folks, I hope all is well with everyone. I've been busy cleaning out my barn getting ready for my winter hay, moving old unused hay out to make room for new. Its a dirty job, I've been breathing in dust and mold that has been growing in the old bales for years, now I'm feeling rather poopy. So I didn't go to town with this weeks images. I'm just to tired to move those stinken nasty bales get heavy for an old gal like me. Anywho here are a few lasses form my collection. I pretty much left them as is with just a few minor scratch and a sister removal. Sorry sis ya had to go you was just to damaged to hang around (top girl was not alone), I just noticed the pin the top gal is wearing looks like a mourning piece , there is a photo of a man in it hmmmm......wonder who he was.

The Unexpectd adventure

Its amazing the things you find when you give yourself permission to head off the beaten path. I have been driving by this garden ornament place for the past 11 years. Its on the way to the feed store and each time I pass it I tell myself I should really stop and take a look. Its one of those places that looks kind of sketchy, if you are brave enough to treck down the long lane way your not sure if you will ever find your way back to civilization.
I was feeling rather adventurous the other day and decided to take a chance and just see what was beyond the front gate. It was like I walked into another world, rows upon rows of frozen statues lined up fighting for attention. Discarded souls lying buried in the grass everywhere you looked faces stared back. The artist who created all these wonderful creatures was just the kind of fella one would expect to find in a place like this. Quiet and a bit eccentric just like his creations. I asked if he would mind if I took some photo's he said please do and left me to wonder around and get into what ever I wanted. I spent about hour clicking away enjoying the quietness of the place. Not only did I find a piece to take home but I came away with tons of wonderful photos.
I played around with a few of the images but for the most part just left them as is.
I am so glad I decided to take a little detour you never know what you can find when you step away from your normal routine.

Until next time take care Hugs Deborah

Free Photo Friday Alice

So sorry for missing last weeks free photo Friday, my pops came for a visit and there was just no time for playing on the Computer. My dad is driving across Canada from Vancouver Island to Prince Edward Island and then back again. Canada is a huge country so this is not a feat for the faint of heart. He is doing this trip alone and at the age of 73 with no cell phone and a lousy GPS. I was the 3rd stop along his way he is now back on the road heading East and I have yet to hear from him so who knows where he is..... I told him to fly like a normal grandpa but He is one stubborn mule!!!

I haven't had much time to work but found this altered gal hanging around in the vault so I played with the contrast and that is about all I had time for. So you get a lighter and darker version of my take on Alice. I've used her several times for projects and I think she is just a doll I should pass along the original image she really is special.
Anywho I better get I have a little lost dad somewhere and I think I need to start calling the relations to see if anyone has seen the old fart. Until next time hugs Deborah
